Professional Liability

Contract

Plagiarism.

Defamation.

Invasion of privacy.

Breach of contract.

Infringement of copyright.

These are ugly terms.  These are the words that you never want to see on an attorney’s letterhead, addressed to you.

Also known as Errors and Omissions coverage, professional liability becomes increasingly important for musicians, concert promoters and recording studios as your success and reputation grow.

Professional liability claims are not frequent, but when they do happen, they can be severe.  Here’s what we’ve learned over the years:  it doesn’t have to be true to end up in court.  Even if a claim against you is completely false, you will still need to defend yourself in court or arbitration to protect your reputation and avoid a settlement or payout.  Court costs and qualified attorneys are expensive.    We live in an increasingly litigious society:  we all know that some people will sue you over nothing more than a facial expression.  Unfortunately, increased fame and media exposure also brings increased risk of lawsuits.

Be your own best advocate.  Protect yourself, your reputation and your financial investment in your career.  The cost of a professional liability policy is minimal compared to the coverage you will receive if a lawsuit is filed against you.
